Udinese are suddenly the favourites to sign Crotone striker Nwankwo Simy after Maxi Romero’s medical flagged up problems.
The forward is unlikely to remain at Crotone following their relegation into Serie B, as he scored 20 goals in 38 games this season.
There were links with Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Genoa and ambitious Monza, with Simy seemingly not keen on leaving Italy after being in the country since 2016 and having a young family.
According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, the 29-year-old is now a primary target for Udinese.
They had originally agreed terms with PSV Eindhoven for Maxi Romero, but abandoned the move after he failed a medical due to recent knee surgery.
Simy has four senior caps for Nigeria under his belt, although the most recent was in 2018.
He also found the net 20 times in Serie B last term in order to help Crotone win promotion to Serie A.
