Unhappy Neymar reportedly ‘encouraging’ Man United transfer interest

Brazil forward Neymar is unhappy with life at Barcelona and is urging Manchester United to up their interest this summer, according to reports.

The 25-year-old endured a difficult campaign under Luis Enrique last season and has been linked with a sensational move to Old Trafford.

United boss Jose Mourinho admitted earlier this year that it would be problematic to sign a player of Neymar’s standing but the Red Devils have made their interest in the player known over the last two years.

According to the Daily Record, Neymar is ‘disgruntled’ with life at the Nou Camp and is encouraging United’s long-held interest in him.

While prising the Brazilian away from Spain would be difficult – and costly – United are one of just a handful of clubs that could afford the striker.

Victor Lindelof is United’s only significant arrival so far this summer and the club are working hard on deals for Alvaro Morata and Ivan Perisic.

Mourinho is unhappy with the lack of progress made on deals by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and wants signings in place before the club embark on their US tour on Monday.

United captain, Wayne Rooney, is not expected to be on the plane after reports claimed he had agreed a deal to join Everton.
