Vela keen on Barca switch

Carlos Vela has revealed he nearly joined Barcelona in January and says he would relish the chance to play at the Nou Camp. The Mexican is currently on the books of MLS side Los Angeles FC and has had another very productive campaign across the pond.
He has scored a phenomenal 34 goals in 31 appearances for LAFC as they finished top of the Western Conference.
They are set to play Seattle Sounders in the Western play-off final for the right to play either Toronto FC or Atlanta United in the final on November 10.
After that, Vela will be unoccupied until the season starts once again in February.
In January, Barca boss Ernesto Valverde reportedly contacted LAFC and Vela to discuss a short-term move to add extra depth to his squad.
However, they opted to sign Kevin Prince-Boateng instead and Vela remained in America.
The 30-year-old has confirmed those rumours were true and says if the opportunity came around again, it would be one he’d seriously consider. “Who could say no to playing with Messi for four months and then coming back to LA? Enjoy, learn and then come back home,” he said. “If Real Madrid or Barcelona are positioned. There are opportunities that we cannot miss.”
The former Arsenal youngster plied his trade in the MLS for two seasons after leaving Real Sociedad in January 2018.
Barca may look to explore the option of Vela again in January, particularly with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both suffering from injuries at the start of this season.
