Sebastian Vettel feels it is vital he produces strong performances in the final four races of the season to build momentum for next year. The Ferrari star has endured a tough campaign with just one race win, which came in Singapore, and he sits in fifth place in the standings with 212 points, 126 adrift of leader Lewis Hamilton. Vettel has also been outperformed by team-mate Charles Leclerc, who has two wins and sits in third spot in the standings. The four-time world champion remains hopeful he can finish ahead of Leclerc, who is nine points better off, and feels strong results in the final races in Mexico, USA, Brazil and Abu Dhabi could boost his chances of making a strong start in 2020. “It’s normal that you try to beat your team-mate, but as I’ve said previously, it’s been the same in all the years that I’ve been running in a team with two cars,” said Vettel, as reported by GPToday.net, when asked about his rivalry with Leclerc. “In Formula 3, I even had three team-mates. So, I think that’s normal and the name of the game. That’s competition and how we grew up racing each other. You want to be faster than the other guys. “We’re trying to use these races to get the right momentum and get in the right place for next year. The cars will be largely the same, so anything we can learn from this year will still help us next year.”
