Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal wants to see international teammate Alexis Sanchez join him at Bayern Munich this summer, according to the Metro.
Sanchez has reportedly been lined up as one of incoming Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti’s primary transfer targets, with a report at the weekend claiming they were ready to shell out €40m to land the 27-year-old. The former Barcelona man is one of Arsenal’s key players, and the club have been attempting to get Sanchez tied down to a new long-term contract.
Both Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are approaching the final two years of their respective deals, and despite Arsenal’s plans to extend before the end of the current season, the Times now report that they’ve been forced to put the plans on hold. Both players are looking for assurances that the squad will be strengthened in the necessary areas before re-committing.
Another potential problem as Arsenal look to agree Sanchez’s contract is Bayern’s interest, and Vidal has issued a plea to his long-time friend to join the Bavarian outfit.
He said: “Hopefully (the rumours are true that Sanchez will sign for Bayern). We have played together since playing for the Under-20s, so it would be nice to play with him again!”
Vidal only joined Bayern from Juventus last summer, but is on course to win the Bundesliga title with the German giants and he’s also set to participate in the Champions League semi-final clashes with Atletico Madrid over the coming weeks.
Sanchez, meanwhile, has an impressive 39 goals in 88 appearances since joining the Gunners, but is set to end the season empty-handed as Arsenal have been eliminated from all cup competitions, and the Premier League title race.
