Manchester United winger Memphis Depay spared Netherlands’ blushes by scoring two goals to sink Luxembourg on Sunday evening.
The 22-year-old has featured just seven times for Jose Mourinho’s side this season and was benched for Netherlands’ World Cup qualifier against the Group A minnows.
Arjen Robben had opened the scoring in the first half but Luxembourg were level by the break through Maxime Chanot’s penalty.

But a lethargic display forced Danny Blind to make two changes at the interval as Depay and Steven Berghuis were brought on for Wesley Sneijder and Robben.

Depay put Netherlands back in front in the 58th minute with a header from a cross provided by his United team-mate Daley Blind.
And the winger completed the victory six minutes before the end with a neatly curled free-kick into the bottom corner.
