Vincent Kompany Prefers Liverpool Defender To Be In Bayern Munich Squad

There are rumours that Vincent Kompany has named a Liverpool defender as one of his main objectives at Bayern Munich this summer.

At the end of last month, it was revealed that the former captain of Manchester City had been unexpectedly appointed as the new manager of Bayern Munich.

Kompany joined the Bundesliga powerhouse shortly after Burnley’s Premier League relegation.

After failing to win a single trophy the previous season, Bayern, who were lured to Kompany by his remarkable coaching style, are expected to make significant summer changes ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen, under Xabi Alonso, won an unbeaten Bundesliga title, reports Mail Online

The Mirror claims that Kompany is eager to recruit Joe Gomez, a standout player for Liverpool and England, this summer since defense is one of Bayern’s top areas for development.

Gomez, who is now preparing for England’s Euro 2024 campaign in Germany, had a successful season with Liverpool last season under Jurgen Klopp, making 51 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool, which gave Gomez a new five-year contract in 2022, is expected to give the Bundesliga team a serious talking to-do list because of the 27-year-old’s versatility on the field.

Bayern Munich is rumored to be interested in Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, another Englishman, but the west London team is not willing to transfer him just yet.

Colwill and Gomez are both eager for new beginnings at their respective teams, as Arne Slot took over at Anfield after Klopp’s exit last season and Enzo Maresca joined as Chelsea’s manager.

The last defender on Bayern Munich’s shortlist is Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen, a German who made an impression during his team’s Bundesliga victory the previous season.
