Bayern Munich board member Uli Hoeness has slammed Burnley manager Vincent Kompany after he was reportedly contacted about replacing Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.
Kompany led Burnley to the Championship title in his first season in charge, but was unable to keep the Clarets in the Premier League during the 2023/24 season, as they were relegated to the second tier.
Kompany, who signed a new five-year contract last summer, was widely praised for his style of play during Burnley’s most recent Premier League season. However, the Lancashire club only managed to win five league games this season, finishing eight points behind safety in 19th place.

According to football pundit Fabrizio Romano, Kompany has received a direct call from the Bayern board as they look for a new manager. The former defender, who was open to conversations, has been added to Bayern’s wish list, and their interest has been confirmed after internal talks.
But when asked about Kompany on Monday, Bayern’s former president and vice-chairman Hoeness appeared to believe the 38-year-old was being connected to the club as a player rather than as manager.
“Vincent Kompany? You journalists pull a new name out of your nose every other day. No thank you, we are very happy with [Matthijs] De Ligt and [Eric] Dier,” he exclaimed.
“Today the Premier League is over but tomorrow we start day one of doing everything we can to get back to the Premier League. It’s way too early to answer if I’d have done things differently.
