Virgil van Dijk is pleased with Liverpool’s performance in the Champions League this season, but warns that there is still more work to be done.
The Reds need a point from their next two league games, the first of which is against eighth-placed Lille at Anfield this evening, to guarantee a spot in the last 16 and avoid the knockout play-offs.
Arne Slot’s team leads the standings after winning all six of their matches this season, including impressive home victories over Bayer Leverkusen and holders Real Madrid.
They’ll look to continue their winning streak tonight, bolstered by a stunning late triumph over Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.

“After two really difficult away games, it will be nice to be back in our home environment this evening as we welcome Lille to Anfield,” says skipper Van Dijk in his matchday programme notes.
“Champions League nights are always a special occasion for our football club, and we are all excited for what promises to be another challenging game.
“Reflecting on the games against Nottingham Forest and Brentford, I believe we can take a lot of positives from both the results and the performances. Those are two extremely difficult locations to visit, so four points from a possible six is a commendable achievement, even if we came away from Forest believing we should and should have won.
“I have said many times that the strength of the Premier League means you cannot lose focus for one minute, otherwise you will be punished. I have also said many times that consistency.
