Leigh Halfpenny should be available for Wales’ clash with the Barbarians later this month, according to his Scarlets coach Brad Mooar. The 30-year-old full-back was forced to sit out Wales’ bronze medal match against New Zealand at the World Cup after suffering from concussion during his country’s defeat to eventual champions South Africa in the semi-finals. It is not the first time the British and Irish Lion has been forced to spend some time on the sidelines because of a head injury, missing five months of last season with a similar issue. However, Scarlets coach Mooar feels the former Toulon star is only dealing with a minor problem this time around and he should be fit and firing for Wales’ clash with the Barbarians at the Principality Stadium on November 30, while his club comeback is likely to follow shortly afterwards. “I have met with Leigh – he looks good, is bouncy and ready to come back in due course,” Mooar was quoted as saying by the BBC. “There is no problem. He is taking that wee break to freshen up and get some time with the family. Then he will get into the Barbarians game hopefully and then into the Scarlets.” Halfpenny has figured 85 times for Wales since making his debut 11 years ago, while he has been with the the Scarlets since the summer of 2017.
