Manchester City have reportedly opened talks with Kyle Walker over contract extension at the club in order to fend off interest from Bayern Munich.
Bayern, a stalwart of the Bundesliga, have suddenly emerged as a serious candidate to recruit Walker this summer. And are said to have made headway in their negotiations with the defender.
Walker is reportedly the subject of ongoing negotiations between Bayern and City. With the Bavaria club willing to spend between €20 million and €30 million for the England international.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Cityzens are negotiating a contract extension with Walker. And are still optimistic that he would dedicate his future to the club.
The right side of Guardiola’s backline saw some preference for players like John Stones, Manuel Akanji, and Rico Lewis in the second half of the season. Jeopardizing the defender’s regular starting position.

Walker started 11 of the club’s final 13 games across all competitions. But he was noticeably absent from the lineup for City’s Champions League final victory over Inter Milan.
Walker is reportedly open to the idea of moving abroad. And signing with a team that will ensure he plays regularly before he represents England at Euro 2024.

Walker made 39 appearances in the 2022–23 season, which saw Pep Guardiola’s team become the first English side to win the treble for the first time in nearly 25 years.
