Wayne Rooney Wants Former Manchester United Goalkeeper Jack Butland At Birmingham City

Wayne Rooney, the new manager of Birmingham City, is allegedly interested in signing former Manchester United goalkeeper Jack Butland this winter. Rangers currently have the 30-year-old on their roster.

According to The Sun, the Blues are considering a’move’ to re-sign him this winter. He previously played for the Midlands club twice. United swooped in January to sign him on loan in order to give cover and competition to their goalkeeping department. He did not, however, play for Erik ten Hag’s team.

Butland was a Crystal Palace player from 2021 till this summer. After being released by the Eagles following his time at Old Trafford, he moved to Scotland to join Rangers on a four-year contract.

Birmingham, on the other hand, is already trying to entice him away from Ibrox. Rooney will want to add his own imprint to his newly inherited squad when the next transfer window opens.

“It’s great to be back in English football,” he stated after replacing John Eustace last week. It has intrigued me since chatting with Birmingham and witnessing the Club’s objectives. I want to succeed, and the Club wants to succeed as well. I am eager to get started and am looking forward to the first game.

“I’m prepared and committed.” I am prepared to lead our Club forward. It is a privilege to be here. My role is to prepare the players to go out and perform. Get the appropriate mindset in order to be constant; consistency is important in this league. “I want to develop a winning mindset.”

Rooney joined United from Everton in 2004 and stayed until 2017.
