Welbeck made 142 appearances for the Red Devils and scored 29 goals before departing for Arsenal in 2014.

Although the striker’s stint with Man United and Arsenal was marred by injury, Welbeck is shown that age is nothing more with his incredible recent displays.

Welbeck has scored eight goals for Brighton this season, the most recent of which came in Sunday’s FA Cup victory over Newcastle in extra time.

That eight-goal total, however, surpasses that of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Joshua Zirkzee has scored seven times in all competitions, while Rasmus Hojlund has just five to his name.

Man United icon Rooney remarked while praising Welbeck’s performance: “Danny, he’s great to play alongside and if I’m being completely honest, I’d probably still like to see him here playing for Manchester United,”

“He had injuries early in his career, but he seems to have recovered and is having an incredible season.”

Ruben Amorim’s team is depending entirely on winning the Europa League if they want to make it to Europe next season, as the team is currently in 14th place in the Premier league and has already been eliminated from the FA Cup, reports Talk Sports.
