Allan Saint-Maximin has missed Newcastle United’s last two games, but there is a ‘chance’ he will play against Totteham Hotspur.
Newcastle were without Saint-Maximin against Brentford and Aston Villa due to a hamstring injury.
There was some anxiety in the media that he would be out of commission for up to six weeks. Eddie Howe, on the other hand, played down any concerns, and he could be back this weekend.
The Magpies welcome Tottenham to St James’ Park for an exciting match with Champions League ramifications. After the drubbing at Villa Park, Howe will be keen for a response from his players, and his squad might be bolstered by the return of Allan Saint-Maximin.
According to Football London Chris Waugh of The Athletic speculated on the current episode of Pod On The Tyne that the 26-year-old could return on Sunday.
“He was in France last week with a member of Newcastle’s fitness staff,” he confirmed.
“He’ll be back in Tyneside later this week.” I believe he will be involved next weekend [against Tottenham].”
While he was unable to affect the game against Unai Emery’s team, the Tottenham match is set up for him to flourish. Maxi usually delivers in big games at St James’ Park, and that is exactly what will happen on Sunday.
