Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that the team’s attackers appreciate Granit Xhaka after the midfielder played some splendid passes in the 3-1 victory over Bournemouth.
One particular pass, which saw Xhaka play a scything ball into the path of Alexis Sanchez, who had a penalty appeal turned down, drew widespread acclaim, with Wenger left in little doubt regarding the Switzerland international’s attributes.
As reported by the club’s official website, Wenger said: “The strikers like to play with guys who play well through the lines and I think the strikers appreciate him.”
Xhaka kept the ball extremely well against Bournemouth – he was successful with 89% of his attempted passes- as he attempted to prove to Wenger that he warrants a regular starting berth.
Although the commencement to his Arsenal career hasn’t exactly gone as anticipated, Xhaka remains a fine player and it will surely only be a matter of time before he is able to fully establish himself in the side.
Arsenal had to battle arduously to take all three points against Bournemouth but they managed to prevail courtesy of a brace from Alexis Sanchez and a goal from Theo Walcott.
