Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger insists the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil do not depend on whether he stays.
Both Ozil and Sanchez have not yet signed a new contract at Arsenal and their futures have long been disputed in the media.
Several reports claim that an unnamed Chinese club were willing to pay Sanchez £400,000-a-week which is making things difficult in negotiations with the Gunners.
Although speculation about their futures is growing, Wenger has admitted to being “relaxed” about the situation and has responded to comments made by Ozil in an interview with German outlet Kicker at the weekend.
“I think he has been a bit misinterpreted. He would like to know what happens on the managerial front of course, but I don’t think that’s the main part of his decision,” Wenger said at his pre-match press conference.
“I think it’s part of it but it’s not the only thing. There are many other ingredients in every negotiation. Hopefully we will find a conclusion with him very quickly.”
Wenger has not really spoken to Ozil about the situation yet, though, as he negotiates directly with his agent more.
“We always speak,” he added. “I speak more with his agent on that front, about contracts, than I do with him.”
Both Sanchez and Ozil have 18 months left on their deals which, in Wenger’s opinion is, ‘a very long time in football’. It appears that wage demands of both stars are holding up their negotiations but the Frenchman doesn’t want to ‘go into too much detail’.
“I do not want to go too much into detail on that, because that can quickly be interpreted in the wrong way.”
In terms of his own future at the club, Wenger had “nothing to add” on any decision he is set to make.
