Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told midfielder Mesut Ozil he should shoot more often.
The Germany international netted as the Gunners defeated Swansea City 3-2 on Saturday, hitting the back of the net with a scorching volley.
More known for his assisting ability, the Frenchman hopes that this strike will convince the 28-year-old to go for goal on more occasions.
‘It was an excellent goal, but he doesn’t take enough chances by shooting,’ Wenger said after the match.
‘In training he scores when he wants and the goalkeepers say how he is the hardest to read when it comes to where he is going to out the ball.
‘I hope he takes confidence from that goal, and starts shooting more in games.’
Ozil already has three goals in his seven Premier League games this season, half way to the six he managed in 35 appearances during the last campaign.
This has helped to fire the north Londoners to second in the table, and only behind leaders Manchester City on goal difference after a slow start that included a loss to Liverpool and draw with Leicester City.
