The champagne corks were presumably still scattered around the Titanic Hotel’s dancefloor following Jurgen Klopp’s rousing farewell, but Mohamed Salah was only thinking about the future.
After paying tribute to his leaving employer on social media on Monday, the Liverpool star took a rare second later that day to reveal his summer plans. Read Also:
“It was great sharing all those trophies and experiences with you over the past 7 years,” Salah wrote about Klopp. “I wish you the best of luck for the future and hope we meet again.”
That tweet, posted soon before 7 p.m. on Monday, was followed by another a little over an hour later, saying: “We understand that trophies are important, and we will do everything we can to make that happen next season. “Our fans deserve it, and we will fight like hell.”
There is much to discuss for the new brains trust but Liverpool insist they are planning for the future with Salah within their ranks, which means his Monday evening tweet will have been music to the ears of senior club officials.
The appointment will also be welcomed by incoming manager Arne Slot, who will undoubtedly be eager to work with such a great player when he takes over as head coach of the Reds on June 1.
In his final interview with Feyenoord, Slot expressed his desire to work with such a talented collection of players left to him by Klopp, and Salah will be near the top of that list.
It’s why Slot and Salah’s choice to talk publicly – directly to his almost 19 million Twitter/X followers – about accomplishing “everything possible” next season came at the best time.
