Wilder hails Blades’ display

Manager Chris Wilder felt his Sheffield United side finally got the result their display deserved after beating Arsenal 1-0 on Monday night. Lys Mousset scored the only goal of the game on 30 minutes, slotting home from Jack O’Connell’s knockdown to send the Bramall Lane faithful into raptures.
The victory sees the South Yorkshire outfit move up to ninth in the top-flight standings, with 12 points from nine games played, and it seems as though they have enjoyed the transition from Championship to Premier League football.
United gained promotion playing attacking, attractive football although there has been some criticism of the style Wilder has employed this term.
He has defended his charges against accusations of playing too defensively, but seemed to get the balance right against the Gunners, and the 52-year-old insists his men always look to take three points while also putting on a good display. “I want my team to win at anything,” he said. “I want players to have that in their attitude and mindset, but you’ve always got to look after your performance as well to get into that position to win games of football.”
There seems an air of confidence around the club that they can survive in England’s top division despite being among the favourites for relegation before a ball was kicked this term.
The next two games will be key for momentum as the men in red and white take on West Ham at the London Stadium and Burnley at home – both games from which they will hope to take points.
Wilder has made it clear right from the off that his team is not in the division to make up the numbers and believes “we got our rewards” with the way in which they took on a side challenging for the top four.
