Wilder praises humble Blades

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says his squad’s attitude and hard work ethic will stand them in good stead this season. The Blades have punched above their weight so far this season, currently sitting fifth in the Premier League table after the opening 12 matches.
United are unbeaten in their last five outings and that form has seen them jump up to fifth in the league table.
Draws with Watford, West Ham United and Tottenham kept the momentum going, but it was their wins over Arsenal and Burnley that caught the eye.
Wilder’s men finished second in the Championship last season, with the former Oxford United and Northampton Town boss using his preferred 3-5-2 formation to significant effect.
Those tactics have been equally as devastating this season, but the 52-year-old says his players deserve praise for their attitude, even after they have been promoted.
He told the Sheffield Star: “I just think everything takes care of itself. If you think people are getting above themselves, then you’d jump all over it. But I don’t think I’ll ever have to do that while I’m here because that attitude and hunger is one of the biggest things at this level. That’s what the lads have always shown, lots of it.”
Wilder brought in eight new players on permanent deals during the summer, with Oliver McBurnie, Lys Mousset, Callum Robinson, Luke Freeman, Ben Osborn, Phil Jagielka, Ravel Morrison and Michael Verrips all putting pen to paper.
Goalkeeper Dean Henderson and midfielder Muhamed Besic both signed on loan and the boss looks to have found a nice balance.
He may dip his toes into the transfer market in January, but for now the 52-year-old is pleased with his options.
The majority of his team are working hard in training during the international break, with the Blades set to welcome Manchester United to Bramall Lane on Sunday, November 24.
