Willian has claimed Diego Costa is so vital to Chelsea because he’s playing well and scoring goals for the Blues. However, the playmaker did add that Chelsea can cope without him.
The Premier League leaders will be without the services of the division’s highesst goal scorer for the visit of the Cherries at Stamford Bridge through suspension after he picked up his fifth booking of the season against Crystal Palace last weekend.
In his absence manager Antonio Conte is likely to hand summer signing Michy Batshuayi a first start in the league this season and Willian has backed the clubs squad depth to come to the fore whilst Costa watches the game from the sidelines.
“Diego is so important for us because he is playing well and scoring goals, but we have players who can come in and do well,” he said as reported by the Daily Mirror.
Other than Costa, the Blues’ next top scorer in the league is Belgian winger Eden Hazard with eight, while Pedro, Victor Moses and Willian himself have each weighed in with three goals apiece.
The Brazilian winger has started the last two games for Chelsea but is by no
means a certainty two extend that run to three games against Bournemouth despite registering an assist in the 1-0 win over Sunderland a week ago.
