Willian won’t face repercussions following reaction to being replaced by Moses

Willian won’t face any repercussions at Chelsea following his frustrated reaction to being substituted on Sunday, with Antonio Conte wanting his players to show desire.

As reported by the Telegraph, Willian’s response to the change in the 76th minute isn’t thought to have overstepped the mark, with Victor Moses replacing him at a time when Chelsea needed a goal.

Conte’s men had taken the lead at Swansea City in the first half, but the game turned on its head in the second period.

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Leroy Fer both struck to put the Swans 2-1 up but within five minutes of Willian’s substitution, Diego Costa grabbed his second of the game, earning the Blues a hard-earned point at the Liberty Stadium.

Although the 28-year-old’s reaction to Conte’s decision drew attention, the newspaper reports that the Italian welcomes that kind of passion and desire to help the team at all costs.

Willian – who reportedly earns £120,000 a week – was one of Chelsea’s best players last season during a disastrous campaign under Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink, performing consistently at a time when his teammates struggled badly for form. Now under a new boss, the Brazil international has continued to impress at Stamford Bridge.

He has scored one goal and created 14 chances in three Premier League appearances this term, with a shot accuracy of 67% and an average pass accuracy of 92%, as the Blues have enjoyed an excellent start with Conte at the helm.

Chelsea sit second on 10 points from their opening four games, two adrift of early leaders Manchester City and one ahead of Manchester United in third.

Next up for Conte’s men is a home clash with Liverpool on Friday night, before a trip to Leicester City in the EFL Cup next Tuesday.
