Jack Wilshere has insisted he is not considering a new contract with Arsenal and is simply focusing on impressing with Bournemouth.
Wilshere completed a surprising loan move away from Arsenal on transfer deadline day and signed up with Eddie Howe’s Cherries for the season as first-team opportunities became limited at the Emirates Stadium.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger appears to have attempted to cushion the blow of going out on loan by suggesting talks over a new contract for the midfielder at the Emirates Stadium could begin over the festive period.
But Wilshere, who was also described as a future Arsenal manager, has suggested he is not interested in a new deal with the Gunners at the moment and isn’t thinking about Arsenal as he is currently a Bournemouth player.
The 24-year-old is now only concerning himself with playing regular games this season and helping Bournemouth finish as high up the league as they can in their second season in the top flight.
Wilshere told the Mirror, when asked about his new deal at Arsenal: “I don’t really want to talk about that at the moment. I’ve come here and I just want to get as many games as possible.
“I’m a Bournemouth player now, in my head. I want to help Bournemouth get as high up the league as possible and also for myself I want to play 25 or 30 games this year.
“So I’m not really thinking about contracts or anything. I’m taking each game as it comes and working hard at training and in the gym to give myself the best opportunity I can at the weekend.”
The England midfielder made his league debut for the Cherries at the weekend, helping his new side to a 1-0 victory over West Brom after coming on as a substitute.
