Wojciech Szczesny has stated that he is content to be Inaki Pena’s backup while Barcelona is “working well.”

Following the mutual expiration of his contract with Juventus, the former Poland international announced that they would not be extending his contract in Turin, forcing him to retire from football at the age of just 34.
However, after Marc-Andre ter Stegen sustained a season-ending injury, Szczesny was rapidly recognized as a possible successor and was persuaded to come out of retirement, signing a contract at the beginning of October.
Szczesny has yet to play a single minute of football for La Blaugrana, despite being widely predicted to take up the starting job in Ter Stegen’s absence.
In recent weeks, Hansi Flick has chosen Inaki Pena, reports 90 Min.
The Polish goalie said that he understands Flick’s choice given Barcelona’s outstanding recent play in an interview with Eleven Sports on his lack of playing time in Catalunya:
“Inaki Pena has not given him any reason to leave him on the bench.
We have talked a lot. I’ve already told the coach that I’m 100%, but the team is working well. If it’s not broken, don’t touch it.”
