Wolff admits Hamilton may move to Ferrari

Toto Wolff admits six-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton may move to Ferrari at some stage of his career but is adamant Mercedes will cope. Hamilton, 34, wrapped up yet another F1 title on Sunday when finishing second to team-mate Valtteri Bottas at the US Grand Prix. The British flyer has an unassailable 381 points this term, with 10 race wins under his belt after another stellar campaign. Bottas will finish second in the drivers’ standings while Mercedes have already clinched the constructors’ title. Ferrari’s pre-season promise failed to materialise although they were extremely quick in a few races, with Charles Leclerc winning two grands prix and Sebastian Vettel one. Too many mistakes blighted the Italian marque’s campaign and they will look to put that right in 2020 and challenge the Silver Arrows’ dominance. Ferrari has always been a standout name in motorsport and especially F1, with Wolff suggesting he would not be surprised if his main man was seen in red in the not-too-distant future. “It’s natural that drivers always dream of Ferrari, the most important brand in Formula 1,” he told Sky Italia. “Red is like the sun in Formula 1.” However, the Mercedes chief added: “If he (Hamilton) wants to have a look at the market, we have to as well. And there are others that I like.”
