Josh Wood is hoping to “kick on” at Wakefield Trinity after completing a permanent move from Super League rivals Salford Red Devils. The hooker came through the ranks with Salford to make his senior debut in 2015 and leaves with 47 appearances under his belt. Wood, who earned further experience on-loan with North Wales Crusaders, Halifax and Swinton Lions, missed the majority of the 2019 campaign due to injury as Salford reached the Grand Final. He is expected to compete with Kyle Wood for the number nine shirt after signing a two-year contract with the Belle Vue outfit. Wood told the club’s official website: “I had a disappointing year in 2019 due to a little niggle but I’ve got it all sorted now and I’m ready for a fresh challenge in 2020. “I feel like I’m ready to really kick on with my career now and I hope I can do that at Wakefield. “When I’ve played against Wakefield in the past, it was always a tough game. As soon as I knew that they were interested, I thought it was a real good opportunity for me. “I’m now excited for pre-season starting so I can meet all the lads and rip-in to the training.”
