World Cup Winning Manager Interested In Replacing Southgate As England Coach

Former Germany head coach, Joachim Low is reportedly keen on succeeding Gareth Southgate as England manager.

The search for Southgate’s replacement has begun after he announced his resignation on Tuesday in the wake of his team’s defeat in the Euro 2024 final, capping an incredible eight years as manager.

The early front-runners for the position are Eddie Howe and Graham Potter. However England Under-21 head coach Lee Carsley is also being considered for the position, either temporarily or permanently.

For the first time since Fabio Capello, the Football Association is said to have made it plain that they are open to considering foreign applicants.

Both Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel have been linked with the position. With both of them currently unemployed after leaving their positions at the end of the previous campaign.

Now, The Sun as claimed by The Metro reported that former Germany gaffer, Low might be open to talking about the role.

The 64-year-old led the German team to World Cup victory in Brazil in 2014, and during his 15-year tenure, he made waves.

But he quit the national team after his team lost to England 2-0 in the round of 16 of Euro 2020 and hasn’t had a job since.

This happened barely three years after Germany, trying to defend their title in Russia during the 2018 World Cup, were humiliated following their exit at the group stage.

England is not anticipated to rush into an appointment and may choose to select an interim manager if it means they finally get their chosen choice. England’s next game is on September 7 against the Republic of Ireland.
