Xavi Teases Manchester United With Major Hint Amid Erik Ten Hag ‘Crunch Week’

Xavi has created a social media controversy among Manchester United fans when his wife shared a photo of him and his son wearing the club’s iconic home kit.

The 44-year-old former Barcelona manager is now without a club after leaving the Catalan giants earlier this year. His name has been circulated as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag in recent weeks, owing to United’s slow start to the current season.

In an Instagram video published by his wife on Sunday, Xavi can be seen with his little kid filling out a sticker book while wearing this season’s Manchester United home uniform, fueling speculation regarding the Spaniard’s interest in the job.

Earlier this month, during October’s international break, key figures at United convened a seven-hour pre-scheduled executive meeting chaired by Sir Jim Ratcliff. There was no change in management as a result of the discussion, but United had planned to replace Ten Hag with Thomas Tuchel before he was appointed England manager.

Tuchel was an appealing choice for United because he was unattached to a club and hence his appointment would not have resulted in a compensation fee to get out of an existing deal. Xavi has yet to find a club since leaving Barcelona in May, putting him in a similar situation.

“They got a game in midweek, but it all comes down to next weekend’s game against Chelsea,” he said on his Sky Sports podcast. “Anybody who is half competent, can play, and has quality in certain areas of the pitch, can beat this United squad, and they are in danger.

“I don’t think we can suffer another defeat at Old Trafford next weekend. It’s gotten to the point where I’m really worried.
