Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure turned down a lucrative £520,000-a-week offer to move to China, the player’s agent Dimitri Seluk has confirmed.
The Ivory Coast international, who is out of contract at the end of June, rejected an approach from Chinese club Jiangsu Suning in the last winter transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports.
Toure initially found himself isolated from the first-team set-up at City in the early stages of Pep Guardiola’s tenure but he has since re-established himself in the side and has featured prominently in recent weeks.
Several high-profile players have made the switch to Chinese football of late, including Oscar and Carlos Tevez, while other players, such as Diego Costa, have been linked with a move.
