Isco has reiterated his desire to stay at Real Madrid “for many years,” after being hailed by manager Zinedine Zidane.
The Spain international has been heavily linked with a transfer over the last two windows, while reported interested from the Premier League continues ahead of this summer.
However, Isco staked his claim for a place in the Madrid XI on Saturday, with a match-winning display against Sporting Gijon.
The hosts took an early lead at El Molinon, before Isco equalised in the 17th minute with a dribble past two defenders inside the 18-yard box.
Following strikes from Mikel Vesga and Alvaro Morata, the 24-year-old midfielder then won the valuable three points for Los Blancos with a last-minute goal, taking his side to the top of the Liga table.
Reflecting on the display, in which Isco boasted a team-high 95% pass accuracy, Zidane said (via Goal): “Isco played a great game. I am happy with how he played, he made the difference.
“Isco is a great player and he has shown that Madrid is where he belongs. He has shown with his performance that he is a great player.”
The player himself added (via Marca): “I want to stay in Madrid and I want to stay for many years, both the club and I think we are going to make the right decision.
“Zidane makes the line-ups and is carrying the squad in an extraordinary way. I know that I am in the best team in the world and I try to do my job with a lot of personality.”
