Zinedine Zidane Set To Take Over As PSG Coach

Zinedine Zidane is ready to to replace Mauricio Pochettino and become the new Paris Saint-Germain coach after years of convincing him, according to multiple sources.

Despite a return to domestic success this season, the Parc des Princes club have been looking to replace the Argentine with a new coach ahead of the new season.

Zidane won three consecutive European titles with Real Madrid during his time in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, and had appeared to keep an eye on any prospective vacancy at the head of the French national side, but the Ligue 1 Champions are thought to have made a breakthrough in their bid for the 49-year-old.

What Will Zinedine Zidane Bring To PSG?

The Frenchman would bring one of the most formidable managerial records in the game to Paris, despite having been out of club management since his second departure from Santiago Bernabeu in 2021.

Between 2016 and 2018, Zidane won La Liga in his first season in command and reached a stunning hat-trick of Champions League finals, amassing a fantastic 70.47 per cent win percentage in the process.

PSG may be most interested in that European nous, as they have yet to add the biggest title in continental club football to their trophy cabinet.

They fell short once more this season, following a spectacular last-16 loss to Real Madrid, in which they collapsed dramatically against Los Blancos, in what could have been the start of Pochettino’s fall.

When Is Zidane Likely To Join PSG?

There appears to be no impending announcement, with Zidane’s representative, Alain Migliaccio, insisting that no agreement has yet been reached.

“All these rumours are unfounded.” he told L’Equipe.

“As of right now, I am the only person who can represent Zinedine Zidane. Neither Zidane nor myself have been directly contacted by PSG’s owner.”
