Arsenal first Premier League side to score 100 goals in all competitions this season

Theo Walcott’s midweek strike pushed Arsenal to a milestone figure, as they became the first Premier League team to reach a century of goals in 2016/17.

On Wednesday evening, Arsenal secured only a second win in their last seven top-flight fixtures, beating West Ham United 3-0.

Mesut Ozil opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium, before Walcott and substitute Olivier Giroud wrapped up the comfortable victory for Arsene Wenger’s men.

Those finishes took the Gunners’ season total to 101 across all competitions – already 10 more than they managed in the entirety of last term.

Alexis Sanchez is responsible for an impressive 22 of Arsenal’s goals in the current campaign, ahead of Walcott (19) and Giroud (13).

The north London giants have struck 61 times in the Premier League (at a rate of 2.1 per game), while 20 came in the Champions League (2.5 per game) and 20 in the domestic cups (2.9 per game).

Manchester City – Arsenal’s FA Cup semi-final opponents – will certainly expect to be the next top-flight side over the 100 mark, as Pep Guardiola’s team are currently on 98 goals.

Meanwhile, local rivals Tottenham Hotspur are in third place on 89 goals.

Arsenal’s next chance to add to their tally comes on Monday evening, with an away fixture against in-form Crystal Palace.
