Bournemouth complete loan signing of Wilshere from Arsenal

England midfielder Jack Wilshere will seek to reignite his career away from Arsenal after agreeing a season-long loan move to Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old asked to leave the Gunners on a temporary basis to play regularly elsewhere, after he was left out of Sam Allardyce’s first England squad. As reported by the club’s official website, he will hope to feature prominently for Bournemouth.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has allowed Wilshere to go in search of first-team football elsewhere as he bids to get back on track following a series of injury setbacks that have seen him fall out of favour for club and country.

And the Cherries have taken full advantage, seeing off competition from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and West Ham to land the 24-year-old on deadline day.

Roma and AC Milan were also reported to have shown an interest.

“Jack is a fantastic addition to the club,” Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club’s official website.

“He is a player that needs no introduction and one that, quite rightly, our supporters will be excited to see in a Bournemouth shirt.

“He will bring a wealth of international and Premier League experience, so we are delighted to be able to welcome a player of his calibre to the club.”

Wilshere has endured a difficult time in recent years with injuries, but the midfielder is eager to prove that he’s still capable of fulfilling his vast potential.

In joining Bournemouth, Wilshere will link back up with Benik Afobe, with the pair having progressed through the ranks together at Arsenal.

Wilshere, who has an average pass accuracy of 86% in the Premier League this season, has struggled to command a regular place in Arsenal’s starting line- up, with the club possessing an abundance of central midfielders.

A host of clubs had expressed interest in signing Wilshere on loan, including Crystal Palace and Roma, but Bournemouth seems a good fit for the Arsenal player, with Eddie Howe’s side renowned for playing free-flowing football.

Wilshere will hope that he can stay injury-free during his time at Bournemouth, as he looks to get his career back on track. Once regarded as Arsenal’s brightest hope for the future, he’s now at a crucial stage in his development as failure to push on at Bournemouth would cause serious doubts to be raised about his vast potential.

However, there’s no doubt that when fit Wilshere is a superb player who’s capable of linking play extremely well. He could make his Bournemouth debut at home to West Bromwich Albion after the international break.
