Brazil name former Corinthians coach Tite as Dunga’s replacement

The Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) have confirmed that former Corinthians boss Tite will replace Dunga as national manager.

Dunga was sacked from his post after watching his side crash out of the group stages at this summer’s Copa America.

Former Corinthians manager Tite will now take charge of the national squad, who currently sit seventh in Fifa’s world rankings.

The CBF released a statement on their website confirming the appointment of the 55 year-old.

It read: “It’s official! Tite is the coach of the Brazilian national team, on Monday afternoon Adenor Leonardo Bacchi was officially presented as the new commander of Canarinho.”

Tite will leave Corinthians for the third time to take control of the five- time world champions after this summer’s Olympics in Rio, during which U20s boss Micale will coach the host nation’s side.

Tite said of his appointment: “Now the time has come, I understood that I should accept being coach of the Brazilian national team and that should be part of my career.

“It’s a personal goal and perhaps my best professional moment.”

Despite not boasting an impressive playing career, after injury forced him into early retirement, Tite has an impressive managerial CV.

His most successful period came during his second spell in charge of Corinthian’s where he guided Timao to the Brazilian title and Club World Cup.

He then took a year out of football to travel the world in 2014 before returning to win the league in his latest spell as boss.

Brazil recorded a consecutive disappointing Copa America after they were knocked out at the group stages in the United States this year for the first time in 30 years.

Dunga, who has been under intense scrutiny since taking charge, failed to impress during his second spell as national coach.
