Conte beats Klopp to Premier League manager of the month award

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been named Manager of the Month for October, after a fantastic run of results for the Blues.

Conte took charge of the club in the summer and endured a tough start to life at Stamford Bridge, winning three of their first six in the league and losing to rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

However, it turned out to be one of the best decisions Conte could make when he changed his formation to a 3-5-2 as Chelsea then embarked on a memorable run which is still going.

That system started on the 1st October against Hull City and it was the start of a five-match unbeaten run, which has seen Chelsea scored 16 goals, win all five and concede none.

Four of those wins came during October – including the 4-0 thrashing of Manchester United at Stamford Bridge – which has allowed Conte to claim the gong today.

“It’s a great honour and I will share this with my players and the club,” Conte told the Premier League website. “It is the first time I work in another country with a different culture, and when you want to bring your own philosophy it is not easy, but now I am glad for this choice.”

The Italian managed to fend off competition from Jurgen Klopp, Arsene Wenger and Mark Hughes, who were all nominated for the award.
