Dele Alli fit to start against Man City

Tottenham Hotspur’s exciting young midfielder Dele Alli is expected to return to the starting XI against Manchester City on Sunday, after complaining of dizziness against Norwich City earlier this month.

The 19-year-old came off at half-time in Spurs’ 3-0 win over the Canaries at Carrow Road after feeling unwell, and the club’s medical team decided to run some tests on him as a precaution.

However, Alli trained regularly after that midweek clash and came off the bench to provide an assist for Kieran Trippier’s winner against Watford on Saturday, which suggested that there was nothing untoward.

Now Sky Sports have confirmed that he’s passed the medical tests and will be in contention to start in Spurs’ vital top of the table clash against City at the Etihad.

The news will provide a big boost to head coach Mauricio Pochettino, as the England international has emerged as a key player in the team’s midfield since returning from a loan spell at MK Dons last summer.

Alli has chipped in with seven goals and five assists in his 23 Premier League outings, both of which are the second-highest totals in Spurs’ squad, while he’s also won 37 tackles – a total only bettered by Mousa Dembele and Kyle Walker.

Second-placed Spurs head to the Etihad looking to record their second victory over the Citizens this season, after winning 4-1 at White Hart Lane in September to boost their title aspirations.
