Ex-Arsenal striker Bendtner taunts Tottenham after Gunners pip them to second place

Former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner has joined in those taunting Tottenham Hotspur on social media, as the Gunners finished ahead of their arch rivals for the 21st season in a row.

Going into the final day of the season Spurs were two points ahead of Arsenal in the table, having drawn 2-2 with Chelsea and lost 2-1 against Southampton.

Arsenal eased to a comfortable 4-0 win over Aston Villa whilst Spurs were thrashed 5-1 by Newcastle United, which saw the Gunners overtake their arch rivals.

Bendtner was one of those on Twitter to react to the occurrence, which has been labelled as St Totteringham’s Day by the club’s fans.

Bendtner is currently a free agent having been released by German side Wolfsburg, he left Arsenal in 2014.

The Gunners finish second for the first time since the 2004-05 season, but they end up being 10 points behind eventual champions Leicester City.

Olivier Giroud gave Arsenal an early goal in the game but they were unable to extend their advantage until later on in the game.

Giroud completed his hat-trick before captain Mikel Arteta competed the scoring, in his final game for the club.

The Spaniard will leave when his contract expires, along with Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini.
