Guardiola: James Rodriguez is good enough to make it at Manchester United

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez is more than good enough to cut it in the Premier League.

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been linked with the Colombia international, with the Express suggesting Real Madrid would be willing to sell if their £64 million asking price is met.

Guardiola refused to stick Manchester City’s name into ring with regards to a summer transfer for Rodriguez, but insists the 25 -year-old would have no problem transferring his performances into the Premier League next season.

In terms of quality, there is no doubt of him playing for Real Madrid because his team-mates are very good,” Guardiola told reporters at his press conference.

“All the good players in the world can play in all leagues, it will depend on the team and the teammates.

“But his quality is undoubted.”

Chelsea, according to the report, are keen to hijack Man Utd’s planned deal for Rodriguez, but Jose Mourinho’s side are the odds-on favourites to land the former Monaco star due to the fact he and the Portuguese manager are both represented by super agent Jorge Mendes.
