Hazard reveals how he wants to leave Chelsea, “like a boss”

Eden Hazard has reassured Chelsea supporters he is not thinking about leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

The forward, 25, who signed for the Blues in 2012 after scoring 20 league goals for Lille in 38 games, has been continually linked with a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

But with four years left on Hazard’s contract, he has made it clear when the time comes for him to leave west London it will be on his terms.

“I have a contract until 2020. I don’t want to finish like this,” he told Telefoot.

“If I have to leave, I must do it like a boss. Like I did in Lille.

“PSG are not among my projects right now.”

For the Belgian international it has been a season to forget. He entered the campaign as the reigning PFA Players’ Player of the Year, after scoring 14 goals and creating a further 12 across the 2014/15 season, but he meekly surrendered his title, picked up by Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez.

Much was expected of him to kick on and push towards the level of consistency at which Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo operate, but Hazard could only manage a paltry four goals and same number of assists in 31 league matches.

Despite his confident demeanour he has always been self-critical and Hazard was the first to admit the performances and displays were below the standard he has set himself.

Currently he’s preparing for his second international tournament with Belgium, the highest-placed side at Euro 2016 in Fifa’s world rankings.

A saving grace for Belgium the Rode Duivels is Hazard’s form at the back-end of the 2015/16 season. All of his league goals came during Hazard’s last seven games.
