Henry: I would have loved to play with Gerrard

Thierry Henry has joined the world of football in celebrating the career of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard following his retirement from professional football.

The Frenchman regularly played against the midfielder when he was at Arsenal, and on the international stage when Gerrard was starring for England.

Henry admitted on social media that he wished he has had the opportunity to line-up on the same team as the 36-year-old.

The announcement of his retirement hadn’t been a huge shock given the end of his contract with La Galaxy and his increased pundit work.

It is not known whether the father-of-three will go into coaching, although current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has said there is a place at the club for him should he want to get his badges.

Whether he goes back to his boyhood club or not remains to be seen but he will go down in history as one of their greatest ever players, having played over 500 league games for the club.
