James Rodriguez’s mum reveals chilling Twitter death threats to Madrid superstar

James Rodriguez’s mother has revealed the chilling death threats the Real Madrid superstar has faced on Twitter.

The Colombian was forced to pull out of the international squad to have rehab on his injured calf, and a group calling itself the ‘Legion Holk’ harassed him on the social media network.

One tweet, from the account @FrekeMan which has subsequently been suspended, was accompanied by a snap of ammunition and a pistol along with a message to the player.

It read: “I am traveling to your house, coming armed. Say goodbye to everything you love #HolkLegion is watching over you.”

Another said: “I see tomorrow all these people crying because I killed a mediocre player.”

Pilar Rubio, Rodriguez’s mum, reportedly kept track of the messages her son had received and filed a police complaint over the threats.

She wrote in one tweet: “What’s the matter with these people, are they mad? They have sent me a message saying that it would be better to see him dead.”

Rodriguez’s injury has forced him out o Colombia’s match against Uruguay on Tuesday.

Colombian international Andres Escobar was shot dead aged 27 in 1994, just days after the national team had been knocked out of the World Cup.
