Jenas: Sergio Aguero is still the best forward at Manchester City

Jermaine Jenas believes Sergio Aguero still has a future at Manchester City despite the emergence of Gabriel Jesus.

Aguero, the third highest goalscorer in City’s history, has been dropped to the bench in recent games in order to make way for Jesus, who joined the club in a £27million move from Palmeiras last year.

The Brazil international scored twice as Pep Guardiola’s side claimed a last- gasp win over Premier League strugglers Swansea on Sunday.

Aguero, meanwhile, was afforded just seven minutes to impress during the closing stages and speculation continues to surround his future at the Etihad.

Former England and Tottenham midfielder Jenas believes Aguero is still the best striker at City, however, despite the impressive form of Jesus.

‘He’s one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen,’ Jenas said on Match of the Day 2.

‘There’s no way you can tell me that Manchester City are better without Sergio Aguero.

‘I’m delighted for Jesus and the start that he’s had to his Manchester City career. Is he a better striker than Sergio Aguero right now? No is the answer.’

Fellow BBC pundit Phil Neville believes Aguero could leave the club this summer.

‘If any clubs are coming in for him it will be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich,’ he said.

‘The top clubs in world football will want Sergio Aguero. I just don’t think he fits in with what Pep Guardiola wants from a centre-forward.’
