Joselu: Stoke players complaining about Yaya Toure’s Madrid performance on WhatsApp

Stoke City striker Joselu has revealed that his teammates are complaining on WhatsApp about how Yaya Toure overpowered them recently, but was then only jogging against Real Madrid this week.

Toure was taken off on the hour mark at the Bernabeu after offering very little for Manchester City in their first ever Champions League semi-final.

The Ivorian has been coasting for most of the season with plenty of supporters growing tired of his antics, despite his heroic performances in his first two seasons at the club.

Now even Stoke’s players are complaining about him having been outplayed by the midfielder and few weeks ago.

Joselu said, as reported by the Daily Mirror: “Toure was wandering on the pitch – he should have run [against Real Madrid] rather than against us in the league.

“My teammates are complaining a lot in the team’s WhatsApp group because weeks ago, Yaya Toure outpowered us in the league.

“He ran so much he even got injured playing against us, as opposed to [Wednesday’s] performance.”

Toure completed 81% of his passes against Los Blancos, though only two went into the opposition’s penalty area. He did not create a single chance or attempt a shot during his hour on the pitch.

In fact, the midfielder completed just one of three take-ons, lost his only tackle and made no interceptions in a pretty lacklustre evening for the former African Player of the Year.

The former Barcelona man will be looking to bounce back this weekend, as City face Arsenal in the Premier League, in Manuel Pellegrini’s final home game as the North West club’s manager.
