Mane to complete Liverpool medical on ahead of £30m move

Southampton winger Sadio Mane will have a medical at Liverpool on Monday ahead of a £30m transfer to Anfield.

Mane has scored 21 goals in 67 appearances in the Premier League since joining the Saints from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United.

But after another impressive season at St Mary’s as the 24-year-old reached double figures in goals and recorded six assists, Liverpool have swooped for his services.

A fee of £30 million was agreed between the two clubs over the weekend and Mane will travel to Merseyside for a medical on Monday, when he will also agree personal terms with the Reds, as reported by the Telegraph.

The news comes just a day after Southampton announced the signing of Nathan Redmond from Norwich City on a five-year deal, with the England Under-21 international seemingly signed as a direct replacement for the outgoing Senegal international.

If all goes as planned, Mane will follow Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert in making the switch between the two clubs. He will also join Joel Matip and Loris Karius as one of Jurgen Klopp’s newest recruits ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The transfer could spell the end of rumours linking Bayern Munich’s Mario Gotze with a move to Anfield, with the Telegraph also adding that Klopp wants to have all his signings done and dusted as soon as possible in order to maximise work on the training pitch.

Mane scored more goals in the Premier League than any Liverpool player last season while also creating 41 chances, only eight fewer than star man Philippe Coutinho.
