Mkhitaryan’s sister follows Arsenal on LinkedIn amid transfer links

The sister of Armenian forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan has intensified speculation of her brother’s short-term future by following Arsenal on LinkedIn.

Monika Mkhitaryan, a Uefa employee who also advises ‘players in transfer and professional contract matters’ as well as negotiating a player’s ‘contractual duties’, recently followed the Gunners’ LinkedIn account.

The London-based side are just one of five different organisations – including Uefa and Fifa – that she follows, with Arsenal as the only football club.

It also comes on the back of a house hunting visit to the English capital in March, as reported by Sport BILD, although it was to find herself an apartment and not one for her brother.

His current deal with Borussia Dortmund expires next year and his tentativeness to extend has put many of Europe’s other powerhouses on notice.

Arsenal’s will have to battle Manchester United for the 27-year-old, according to The Sun, but are hoping to steal a march on their rivals.

Arsene Wenger may find it easier to convince Mkhitaryan, however, having revealed his love for the club and the Frenchman at the age of 20.

“My favourite team is Arsenal,” he told Uefa.com in 2009. “I like their attacking play and fast style. Moreover, Arsène Wenger puts faith in young players while demanding results at the same time. I like that and want to play there one day.”

Since arriving in Germany from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, he’s scored 41 goals across 140 matches whilst creating a further 49.

After losing two key personnel this summer, in Mats Hummels and İlkay Gündoğan, the Black and Yellows will not want to lose another key player, but there is the distinct possibility of losing him on a Bosman next summer.

Dortmund’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, confirmed BVB “will make a decision this week” regarding the 27-year-old.
