Mourinho condemns Guardiola to longest winless run of his career

Manchester City were beaten 1-0 by rivals Manchester United in the EFL Cup at Old Trafford, with the result meaning that Pep Guardiola has now gone six games without a win- the worst run of his managerial career.

United manager Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly take great delight in inflicting further misery upon Guardiola, whose City side have stumbled of late after making a very encouraging start to the season.

A second-half strike from United midfielder Juan Mata proved the difference between the two sides tonight, with City’s defeat extending a woeful run of form that has seen them lose to Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur and draw with Southampton, Everton and Celtic.

Guardiola made several alterations to his side tonight, with youngsters Pablo Maffeo and Aleix Garcia receiving run-outs, but the changes didn’t have the desired effect as United managed to prevail.

City will hope to finally return to winning ways when they face West Bromwich Albion away in the Premier League on Saturday.
