Mourinho: Man Utd paying no attention to Arsenal and Liverpool’s form

Manchester United moved to within a couple of points of the top four and plunged Leicester’s fight against relegation into further misery after a comprehensive 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.

With minutes to go until half time, United were rampant and scored twice, firstly through Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who ran through Leicester’s half before smashing past Kasper Schmeichel and into the net. Then Zlatan Ibrahimovic who drilled home his 15th league goal this season via Antonio Valencia’s cross.

Juan Mata added a third, four minutes into the second half, retrieving the ball from Mkhitaryan to clinically fire in at the near post from close range.

United remain in strong contention for a top four place, despite a first league win since beating West Ham 2-0 on January 2nd. United haven’t lost in the league since their 4-0 humbling at Chelsea 15 games ago.

After today’s victory Jose Mourinho commented: “I think we played like we normally play. We played well and tried to win. They were a difficult team but that is something we are used too.”

Mourinho insists he isn’t worrying about the teams above his side, despite closing the gap on second place this weekend to just five points. “I don’t look to others. If we had beat Hull and drawn with Leicester, they are still positive points.

“We drew with Hull and beat Leicester. We are still in the same position but we are closer to the others so we keep fighting.”

United aim to make it 16 league games without defeat when the host an in-form Watford next Saturday.
