Neville: I want Arsenal to win the Premier League if Man United can’t

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has admitted that if the Red Devils cannot win the title this season, he’d prefer Arsenal to do it.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table this season after a poor start to the campaign but three straight victories has changed perceptions and lifted confidence heading into Christmas.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have lost back-to-back games away to Everton and Manchester City and have dropped down to fourth place and nine points off the leaders, Chelsea.

Neville, though, hopes that the Gunners can win the title if Mourinho’s side falls short this season.

“If there was another club – and I’m a Manchester United fan – if there was another club to win the league other than our own, you would you’d want Arsenal to do and do it,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“But, every single season, their mentality at this point of the season or around these times [is poor]. It’s not a new story and you just hope they can get over that line.”

The Gunners have not won the title since 2004 when they went the season unbeaten with a side featuring Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires and Patrick Vieira.

Arsene Wenger has failed to reach those lofty heights ever since and their defensive collapses in the past week are unbelievably similar to previous years.
