Ozil close to signing £200,000-a-week long-term Arsenal deal

Mesut Ozil is closing in on a £200,000-a-week deal to stay at Arsenal, according to the Mirror.

Attacking midfielder Ozil and his representatives have held further negotiations with the Gunners during this international break.

Arsenal are confident the 28-year-old wants to sign and stay, and they are ready to make him the highest-paid player at the club.

Ozil is currently on £140,000-a-week and has 18 months left on that contract.

His camp have been pushing for a big rise as he is in the form of his life .

Reports last week linked Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho with a sensational move for Ozil as the midfielder’s negotiations over a new contract roll on.

It’s understood the German World Cup winner is demanding wages of around £250,000-a-week in north London but a deal is yet to be wrapped up with the Gunners.

However, the Sun suggest Ozil has bought a stunning new home in Highgate, London which would suggest he’s ready to commit his immediate future to Arsenal.

The Germany international signed from Real Madrid three years ago is happy in England and wants to stay if the deal is right.

Arsenal have already tied down right-back Hector Bellerin on a six-year deal, and Ozil looks set to be next in line with the pen.

But there is less certainty over forward Alexis Sanchez , who also has 18 months left.

The Chile international currently on £130,000-a-week and wants a huge rise.

On talks with Ozil and Sanchez, Wenger said in mid-October: ‘We are always in touch and that’s our desire.

‘Ozil is 28 years old, in the prime of his career and of course we want him to contribute to the success of this club in the future.’
