Ozil and Sanchez set to sign new long-term deals at Arsenal

Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are close to signing new long-term contracts with the club.

The pair both have just two years remaining on their current deals and talks began in May about extensions to keep them at the Emirates Stadium for the next five years, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Mirror report that talks were placed on hold during the summer as both players had international commitments, but the negotiations are expected to resume soon and the Gunners now hope to tie down pair to long-term deals in the near future.

It is also understood that Ozil, who is the club’s record signing, has been uplifted with the arrival of his German international teammate Shkodran Mustafi as they are close friends off the pitch and that could prove to be a vital factor in the 27-year-old’s decision to add three more years to his stay in north London.

Meanwhile, Sanchez was subject of interest from Serie A champions Juventus during the summer but made it clear that he wanted to stay and that has given Arsenal official renewed optimism that they will be able to retain the services of their two key players.
